The new trailer for Ridley Scott’s new si-fi film ‘Prometheus’ used Twitter and some real-time interaction to create a world first on the UKs Channel 4. The ad was part of live experiment as Channel 4 invited viewers to share their thoughts about the teaser using the #areyouseeingthis hashtag. They then featured a selection of the live tweets in the following ad break. The results saw thousands sharing their thoughts.The ad broke new ground as it featured live tweets that were sent only minutes before. Twitter stats point to 24,921 Tweets mentioning the #areyouseeingthis hashtag
A Twitter spokeswoman stated: “We love how they included Tweets in the creation of the TV content… using Twitter to impact the ending or content of a programme or ad is a huge opportunity that is just starting to be explored.”
